Originally constructed in 1894 by Sir Francis Rattenbury as the inaugural home of the Bank of Montreal, our building served as a precursor to the chateau-style stonework later employed in the iconic Empress Hotel, designed by Rattenbury a decade later. Today, the ambiance within our walls is characterized by intimate fireplaces, opulent dark wood, Victorian-etched glass doors and windows, glistening gold chandeliers, and a captivating collection of memorabilia.
