Whether you’re a first-time visitor to Vancouver Island, or a lifelong resident, the island is undeniably a paradise for outdoor and fitness enthusiasts alike. From Victoria to Tofino, the island is bustling with outdoor activities and challenges to keep you physically active, push your limits and support great causes. However, amidst the island’s bustling activities, keeping track of events can be challenging. This is where we come in, here’s everything you need to know about the Oak Bay Half Marathon!

If your travels bring you to historic Oak Bay during the final weekend of May each year, you’ll find outdoor and running enthusiasts coming together to participate in the annual Oak Bay Half Marathon. Renowned as one of British Columbia’s premier running events, the scenic route offers an unforgettable experience for participants of all ages and abilities.

The Oak Bay Half Marathon kicks off bright and early at 8 a.m. on the last Sunday of May each year, with eager, early risers beginning at 7 a.m. The race begins at Windsor Park, leading participants through Oak Bay’s downtown core, past charming and historic storefronts, along the scenic Beach Drive before finding its way back to Windsor Park for celebrations.

Since its establishment in 2006, the Oak Bay Half Marathon has united communities near and far, welcoming locals and tourists alike to tie up their running shoes and hit the pavement through the prestigious streets and oceanside of our very own Oak Bay. Presented by Virgin Radio and Frontrunners, the 21.1 km event not only promotes physical activity but also supports local charities, enabling participants to make a positive impact while putting their best foot forward.

This year, the Oak Bay Half Marathon proudly supports CFAX Santas Anonymous, a longstanding charity in Greater Victoria dedicated to assisting families in need through Christmas Hamper and Special Grant programs. Additionally, the marathon contributes to the Easter Seals, a BC and Yukon charity supporting the disabled community since 1952. Supported by a dedicated team of volunteers, the Oak Bay Half Marathon embodies the spirit of community and fitness, offering an enriching experience for all involved.
