Bray’s

Richard Bray, an adventurous individual, left Cornwall for Victoria in 1882. Initially a hack driver, his ambition led to a thriving livery stables business at 728 Johnson St. The premises, once ‘Bunster’s Brewery,’ housed up to 100 horses in the basement and carriages on the ground floor. This marked the start of an extraordinary legacy. Next to the stables, the Bray family resided in a two-story house, deeply woven into the local community with Mary having roots in the Black family and connections to the pioneering Munro family of James Island.

Since its establishment in 1990, the establishment has remained steadfast in its commitment to sustainability. Regular contributions are made to environmental and vegan organizations, and the menu exclusively features sustainable plant-based foods. The place is adorned with locally crafted reclaimed wood and equipped with composting and recycling stations, emphasizing a dedication to eco-friendly practices. Puzzle Lab

Tinka Robev and Andrew Azzopardi, who initially crossed paths while studying architecture at the University of Waterloo in 2012, co-founded Puzzle Lab. Having relocated to Victoria, BC, in 2014, the duo initiated Studio Robazzo, a versatile design and branding agency. In response to the challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic, they conceived the idea of establishing a puzzle company with the aim of encouraging individuals to shift from digital devices to real-world activities. Since its inception, Puzzle Lab has been unwavering in its commitment to crafting puzzles of enduring quality and serving as a platform for showcasing the talents of Canadian artists.
